The Russian Avant-garde tour highlights the experimental art of the 19-20th centuries. Following an era of imperial luxury and ball-parties came the period of communal flats, avant-garde art and risky, not always legal theatre performances. During the tour, we are going to see paintings dating back to the late 19th and 20th centuries in the State Russian Museum. It contains works of art by Kandinskiy, Malevich, Filonov, Serebryakova, Tatlin among others. This tour is a good opportunity to see the development of Russian art from a strict academic tradition to abstract painting.
Also on this tour, you’ll have a chance to experience communal flat interior and home-style meals in USSR cafe “Kvartirka”. They serve authentic dishes with unforgettable retro vibes.
Our next stop will be the modern art gallery on Pushkinskaya 10. This is a must-see place to get acquainted with modern art. Pushkinskaya 10 is considered to be the symbol of cultural protest in the 20th century.
