Itinerary

• Stop at the Peter and Paul Fortress and Cathedral, the spot where the city was founded in 1703 and, within a few years, made capital of the Russian Empire by Peter the Great. The cathedral is the final resting place of Russia’s emperors and members of the Romanov family.
• Step inside the Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood, built on the site of Emperor Alexander II’s assassination and decorated entirely in mosaics — a rare sight.
• See St. Isaac’s Cathedral, the third-largest domed cathedral in Europe. It took 40 years to build, and your guide shares the story of its design and construction, overseen by three emperors.
• Return to your hotel.
